Al Bovindo Di Martinegl (House With Bay Window At Martinegl) (ENG)

On the main facade of an old building, next to the main street of the village, there is a bay window constructed in a diamond point style, unique in its kind throughout the province. On the facade, besides the bay window, there was a fresco now completely disappeared, of which traces of a stucco frame remain and which was certainly pre-existing the construction of the bay window, which partially covers it. Traces of sgraffito decorations are evident in the splay of a window overlooking the narrow passage that connects the main street with the road leading to the hamlet of Valcepina; alongside the decorations, there is also a date inscription from 1666. On the first floor operated an inn of ancient origin; according to oral tradition, it was the inn’s owner, a woman called *Tintóra*, who had the bay window built to monitor the influx of patrons to two other nearby inns, one to the north and the other to the south. From the stories of the old neighborhood residents, it seems that the fresco beside the bay window depicted this mysterious innkeeper. The house is currently uninhabited, and the most interesting rooms have been partially demolished or abandoned.
